Maithreyi R has co-authored a paper that has been published in an international peer-reviewed journal called Citizenship Teaching & Learning

Maithreyi has co-authored a paper along with researchers from  Pennsylvania State University, Georgia State University, and Indiana University Purdue University Columbus (IUPUC), USA, and Luleå University of Technology, Sweden. The paper titled “Ironies of democracy: Purposes of education and the construction of citizens in Sweden, India and the United States” looks at the national curricular frameworks of the three countries (Sweden, India and USA) and examines the tensions that emerge as countries attempt to instill national concerns of citizenship through education, in a context of increasing pressure on national education systems to adopt global madates and frameworks.
